Archive for February, 2026

February starts off with Imbolc when we honor the goddess, Brighid and the beginning of the season of spring. Brighid is the goddess of the healing flame and also the healing well.

As witches, healing is foremost on our paths. And healing can take many forms. There is physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. There is individual, communal and Earth healing. As far as I’m concerned, all spell work should involve some type of healing. You can even have healing for situations, so a prosperity spell might be considered financial healing. Yep, witches are healers! That’s why Brighid is a favorite among witches.

Here is a past blog post on this lovely goddess and her festival:

This year the February full moon, known as the Snow Moon, coincides with Imbolc. We consider how beneath the snow there is still life in abundance. Snow can actually act as a kind of a protective insulator. And many of us depend on a snow pack for our water supply later in the year.

In 2026 February 17th will mark the beginning of the Chinese lunar new year of the fire horse.

This will begin a time of intense energy and transformation. It’s also quite interestingly occurring at a time when both Neptune and Saturn are conjunct in zero degrees Aries. This cosmic event hasn’t occurred since the American Revolution, so hold onto your hat! I intend to do all I can to use this energy to benefit my surroundings in a positive way. I think focus and control may be the key.

February 18 marks the beginning of the tree month of Ash. Interestingly enough, the ash symbolizes transition and transformation. I think we can expect to see a lot of that happening in the coming months.

Amethyst is the gemstone of February. I know that amethyst is connected to the higher chakras. It can help us with our addictions as well as being favorable for getting a good nights sleep. Amethyst can also be a protective stone and is one of my favorites.

The flowers of February are the Primrose and the Violet. I just love seeing those little primrose flowers, poking their colorful little heads up in the garden beds in early spring. The Druids used them for protection and to dispel negative energy.

And violets smell so sweet! They signify love, peace and protection. Something we are going to be needing in the coming year!

So have a blessed if somewhat exciting February!

Until next time, bright blessings!
