On Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 9:49 CDT the sun will move into the sign of Libra. This will mark the autumnal equinox. In the old religion of Western Europe, especially among the Celts this time of year was referred to as Mabon and is the celebration of the harvest, the original Thanksgiving. It was a time of feasting and celebrating all that the good earth had provided throughout the growing season.
This Saturday on the 22nd I plan to cook a nice meal to usher in autumn. Since I had such a bumper crop of basil this year, I figure I will go with an Italian menu of lasagna and incorporate a lot of this wonderful green herb into my cooking. I’ll mix up a salad of seasonal veggies and finish things off with a dessert of an apple tart…..because apples are SO autumn! As I prepare the meal I will think about the way I was assisted throughout the growing season by the gardening angels and elementals and dedicate the feast to them.
On Sunday, the 23rd of September I will go up to the attic and pull out the fall decorations. Sunday will be the day to decorate with the autumn leaves, pumpkins and the Halloween decorations. I love this time of year and I like to decorate early so I can enjoy the season all through the fall. Sunday evening I will light a fire in my outdoor fire pit and meditate on how thankful I am for all the wonderful people, things and experiences I have had throughout the year. I will also ask Spirit and the angels to bless the months ahead and help me to follow the path that was set for me before I was born.
I hope you find some meaningful way to celebrate the return of autumn.
Angel Blessings for a Wonderful Mabon!
